Columbia: Gas cost hits 7-year low - Business First of Columbus:

Columbia on Wednesday said customers will pay 52 centa per 100 cubic feet of natural gasin August, down 16 centa from July and off 83 cents from a year ago. The averaged bill next month willbe $24.47, down from $30.8 5 last year. The last time Columbia’s natural gas rate was belo 52 cents was when it hit 45 cent in the second quarteof 2002, spokesman Ken Stammen said. The cost climbede to 62 cents in the third quarte r of that yearbut hasn’t dipped lower until the August rate. Naturalo gas costs hit record highslast summer, sending Columbia’s monthly gas cost recoverhy to a high of $1.43 per 100 cubidc feet in July 2008.
