Dallas-based (NYSE:LUV) said it flew 6.73 billio n revenue passenger miles in downfrom 6.88 billion in the same periodc a year ago. Revenue passenger miles, whicuh measure one paying passenger flownper mile, is the officiakl measure of airline traffic. The airline’s capacity fell 4 percent in June while its load or percentage of seats grew more than a percentage pointto 79.5 percent. Southwesrt in the first half of the year saw traffi drop 2 percentto 36.6 billionm revenue passenger miles from 37.4 billiom last year.
The which carried about 28 percent of all Port Columbuws passengersthrough May, also said it is selling one-way tickets for as low as $30, $60 and $90, depending on how far customersz are traveling.
