Phelps Portman Nashville LLC, which includesx Hensel Phelps subsidiaryPhelps Development, is developingb the hotel. The Portman part of the partnership is Portmam Holdings LLCof Atlanta. The hoteo will be an integral part of the new Musi City Center convention center being developed indowntowb Nashville. The 1.2 million-square-foot convention center is beinv built under the auspices of the Nashville Metropolita Development and HousingAgency (MDHA), and is expectedr to open in 2012. The new facility, funded by visitod taxes, will replace the existing downtownconventionb center.
In early June, Nashville’s metro council authorized $75 million for the MDHA to start buying the 16 acres where the new center willbe located.
